Both Bluesky and Threads suck. I have no idea why you’d want to spend so much time with such a large group of overly-emotional, somewhat hysterical people, now that I am somewhat broken of the habit.
Introducing Inneal
While most of my AI related app releases have been dedicated to image generation, (counting two Ealain releases and then Aislingeach), my gateway into generative AI was chatbots. If you look at the chronology of this blog, that’s pretty obvious, since it all began with my post about “uncensored” chatbots, which I’ve recently updated to … Introducing Inneal
The Varying Levels of Getting Started with “Uncensored” LLM-Powered Chatbots (2024 Update)
This post is an update to my previous post, May 2023’s “The Varying Levels of Getting Started with “Uncensored” LLM-Powered Chatbots“. A lot has happened in 11 months. Well, not a lot, but, things have changed a bit. I think that post is still worth reading, because it explains more in depth what we’re talking … The Varying Levels of Getting Started with “Uncensored” LLM-Powered Chatbots (2024 Update)
How I Build Apps (And So Can You)
I’ve built a few apps now, apps that people actually pay money for–not a lot of money; a very, very small amount of money, but enough that my Apple Developer fee has been paid for until I die, at the very least. I don’t say this to brag, but to establish that I’ve done this … How I Build Apps (And So Can You)
I had the idea to stream Ealain to Twitch so that non-Apple device owners could partake, and along the way discovered that OBS has a slideshow mode built in that is perfect for this use. So I grabbed a little spare laptop I had nearby and got a stream running. I’ve embedded it below, but if it doesn’t work, you can see it over here on Twitch.
Introducing Ealain for Apple TV
Just 11 days ago, I released Ealain for Vision Pro and now I’m very happy to introduce Ealain for Apple TV, which is the same app, it’s just for Apple TV now. You can find it at the same App Store page for Ealain for Vision Pro, because it’s a universal app (or whatever they … Introducing Ealain for Apple TV
The Weight of Disappointment
This is my Apple Vision Pro review. I wrote several within the first week I got the headset but none of them seemed to be saying anything that wasn’t already being said. Now that the honeymoon period is likely over for most people, and the AVP Discord is getting much quieter, maybe it’s my time … The Weight of Disappointment
tvOS seems sadly neglected in Xcode. Between this silly AppIcon issue and the weird way TabBar visibility changes animate just gives me an icky feeling working on my first Vision Pro & tvOS Multiplatform app.
Introducing Ealain for Vision Pro
A few months ago I released Ealain, a screensaver for macOS that shows bauhaus-style abstract art generated with Stable Diffusion. When I got the Vision Pro, I thought about which of my apps or screensavers would make the most sense ported over. This process took a while and was rife with indecision. Eventually I realized … Introducing Ealain for Vision Pro
Playing team sports with corporations on the internet makes you a massive loser. If you’ve got a Playstation 5 and it makes you feel good somehow to go on the internet and say bad things about Xbox owners, you’re a loser, because a winner would own both consoles and enjoy all the experiences on offer. This goes for everything, especially Meta Quest owners who seem desperate to insult the Apple Vision Pro. The only winner in that situation are people like me, who own both headsets, and can enjoy both headsets for what they are good for. If you’re not capable of that, that’s sad for you, but you don’t have to go on the internet to try to put others down to make yourself feel better, that’s just pathetic.
I beat Final Fantasy 16 tonight. I did all the side quests and all the hunts, it took me around 52 hours to do it all. I enjoyed it quite a bit, though JRPG fatigue set in as it always does, and the story didn’t do anything special. The combat was a lot of fun and made for a nice spectacle, but the whole game was gorgeous from beginning to end. Excited to play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth soon!
I managed to pre-order an Apple Vision Pro today for delivery on release day. I’m both very excited and very skeptical, so it should be interesting to see what I think of it. I’m already starting to brainstorm app ideas for it now that getting one is a definite. 🤔
Andie and I went to DesignerCon today, mostly because cEvin Key said he was going to be there. We walked up to the booth cEvin was at, and I immediately got so nervous I couldn’t bring myself to say hello to him. We walked around for a bit, circled back, and I still couldn’t do it. So that was kind of lame. But it was still very cool to see him in person (he’s tall!), and I’m sure I’ll have future opportunities to say hello if I want since I feel like I am gonna stay subscribed to him on Patreon, and he lives down here.
With the exception of the ongoing Black Friday coupon code that gives you 40% off, the most sure-fire way to save some money when buying Meta Quest games is to use Meta-Dog, which compiles and distributes 25% off referral codes. This cuts into Meta’s 30% take from the app sale, so don’t feel like you’re taking money away from the developer using these referral codes!
Darker Waves 2023
This weekend I went to Darker Waves in Huntington Beach. It was pretty great. We saw: Molchat Doma, The Cardigans, DEVO, Soft Cell, The Psychedelic Furs, The B-52’s (via video screen), and New Order. We also overheard Tears for Fears on the way out, saw a bit of X, heard a touch of OMD, and … Darker Waves 2023
